Metal stems are also a must to install aftermarket Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). I took it to my local tire shop, les Schwab, to have them installed.

Purchase and mounting will set you back a couple of hundred bucks but worth it. The only other system I would even consider are airless valve stem extensions attached to metal valve stems.
