WebJan 21, 2015 · The 205 used a rotating magnetic drum for its memory. The drum was word-addressable, but as drums go, it rotated quite slowly -- only 3570 RPM. Average access time to the 4000-word main portion of the memory was 8.4 milliseconds. Note that was the average time for a memory access, not an I/O.
